## Eligibility

- A person must have held the post of Additional Secretary to the Government of India, or an equivalent post under the Central or a State Government carrying pay not less than that of an Additional Secretary.

## Pay

A Member gets Rs. 2,25,000 (fixed) per month plus the allowances admissible to a Group 'A' officer of the Government of India on the same pay. Any pension drawn is deducted from the pay.

## Selection process

1. Scrutiny and shortlisting: The Committee scrutinises the applications for the suitability of applicants, giving due weightage to qualification and experience, and shortlists candidates.
2. Personal interaction: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interaction. No TA/DA is admissible, and candidates must make their own arrangements.
3. Final selection: The final selection is based on the Committee's overall evaluation of qualification, experience and personal interaction.
4. Re-appointment: Sitting Members of CAT are eligible for re-appointment in the same manner as the original appointment, preferably along with all persons shortlisted in response to the vacancy circular or otherwise. The Committee also considers their previous work performance in CAT.
5. The Search-cum-Selection Committee constituted under the Tribunal Reforms Act 2021 continues and completes the selection, under section 24(3)(a) of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026. The appointment, salary, allowances and other terms of service of the selected Member are governed by the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026.
6. The Search-cum-Selection Committee scrutinises the applications and shortlists candidates for a personal interaction. The final selection is based on qualification, experience and the personal interaction.
