- Candidates must fulfill the following essential and desirable qualifications, experience, and age criteria to apply for the Consultant with Ph.D post:
Essential Qualification and Experience
- Age Limit: Must not be more than 50 years of age at the time of recruitment.
- Educational Qualification: Must hold a Master's degree in areas such as economics. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed) at both bachelor's and master's levels.
- Ph.D. Degree: Must hold a Ph.D. degree.
- Post-Qualification Experience: Must have a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience, out of which a minimum of 3 years must be in the relevant field, for example, international trade and allied fields.
- Additional Requirements: Relevant work experience or research and studies produced in international trade, economics, economic diplomacy, international law, investment, public policy, or in a related discipline is desirable. Candidates should have sound knowledge of computer applications and packages including MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with a good command of English (spoken and written) and experience in research activities.
Desirable Qualification and Experience
- Candidate holding a degree in Ph.D. Agricultural Economics.
- Agriculture negotiations in the WTO.
- Work relating to notifications under the Agreement on Agriculture.
- Review of compliance with relevant WTO Agreements.
- Matters relating to the WTO Committee on Agriculture.
- Preparation and coordination relating to WTO Ministerial Conferences.
- Work relating to the Trade Negotiations Committee (TNC) and General Council of the WTO.
- Matters relating to India's participation in the WTO Public Forum, Inter-Parliamentary Union, and other relevant international forums.
- WTO-related matters concerning the G-20, OECD, and World Economic Forum.
- Preparation of background material on important WTO issues.
Pay and Tenure
- The selected researcher will be paid a consolidated pay in the bracket of Rs. 1,45,000/- to Rs. 2,65,000/- per month, depending upon their qualification and experience, and as per the order of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
- The appointment is purely on a contractual basis for a period of 1 (one) year, which can be extended after a review of performance and the requirement of the Centre. The position will be posted at the CWS Office, NAFED House, Ashram Chowk, New Delhi.
CWS IIFT Consultant with Ph.D Job Description
- The Centre for WTO Studies (CWS) is an independent think-tank conducting research and training programmes on the WTO and related matters. The Centre regularly assists the Government of India in international trade negotiations, disputes, and policy matters. The engaged Consultant with Ph.D will undertake research activities, contribute to trade negotiations and policy matters, prepare background material on important WTO issues, and assist in WTO-related committees, ministerial conferences, and international forums.
