About Devbhumi Dwarka Family Court Counsellors
- Family Court, Devbhumi Dwarka is preparing a panel of Counsellors for the Family Courts in Devbhumi Dwarka district, located at Khambhaliya, Okha-Mandal and Kalyanpur. The empanelment is made under the Gujarat Family Court (Amendment) Rules, 2023. The Family Court functions from the New District Court Building, Salaya Road, Khambhaliya.
Who Can Apply
- Degree of a recognized University, preferably with Social Science or psychology as one of the subjects.
- Minimum experience of 02 (Two) years in Social Work, Child Psychiatry or Family Counselling.
- Impeccable integrity.
- An applicant must possess the following qualifications as on the last date of application:
- The application form asks for educational qualifications from the Bachelor's degree onwards, with certificates attached, and for experience in the field of social and family welfare with certification as required under Rule 5(B) of the Gujarat Family Court (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
Preference and Relaxation
- Where other things are equal, preference in appointment shall be given to a woman candidate having the requisite qualification.
- Preference shall also be given to a candidate who has been a Judge or has experience of counselling in family matters.
- The High Court may, in exceptional circumstances, relax the minimum academic qualifications.
Pay and Tenure
- A candidate appointed as Counsellor, Family Court shall be paid an honorarium or fee as may be determined and notified by the State Government from time to time. The notice does not print an amount.
- The appointment of a Counsellor may be terminated on recommendation of the High Court, without assigning any reason, at any time before the expiry of his or her term, on the recommendation of the concerned Principal Judge, Family Court. The length of the term is not specified in the notice.

- attend the Court as and when required by the Judge of the Family Court;
- aid and advise the parties regarding settlement of the subject-matter of dispute or any other part thereof;
- help the parties in reconciliation;
- submit a report or interim report, as required by the Court to which he or she is attached;
- perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Family Court to which he or she is attached, from time to time.
- The Counsellor works in association with the Family Court to promote conciliation and secure speedy settlement of disputes relating to marriage and family affairs and connected matters. The Counsellor shall not act or plead for a party to a case or proceeding, but shall generally assist the Court in reaching a peaceful and amicable settlement of the dispute.
