Such experts must have proven expertise in their specific profession or role with at least fifteen (15) years of service or experience, preferably at a senior level. A formal academic qualification is not considered essential for this position where the candidate has exemplary professional practice in lieu thereof. |
- In the case of Departments running programmes under AICTE, the qualification and experience norms prescribed for Professor of Practice in the Government of Gujarat Resolution dated 14/10/2024 shall also be kept in view, namely: Ph.D. with 10 years of relevant experience in a large conglomerate; or a Master's degree with 15 years of relevant working experience in a large conglomerate; or B.E./B.Tech. with 17 years of relevant working experience in a large conglomerate; or Ph.D. / Master's / B.Tech. with a minimum of five (5) patents and 5 years of experience in a start-up. A Ph.D. is desirable for guiding research scholars at the Ph.D. level but is not mandatory for teaching.
Disqualification
- Persons who are in the teaching profession — whether serving or retired — are excluded and shall not be engaged as Professor of Practice. Applications from such persons shall be summarily rejected.

Professor of Practice Important Instructions
