- National Eligibility Tests: CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or GATE
- A selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions
- The Rs. 37,000/- JRF fellowship is for scholars selected through either of these routes:
- The Rs. 30,000/- Project Associate-I fellowship is for others who do not fall under these routes.

- Scholars selected through National Eligibility Tests: CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
- The selection process through National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MOE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc.
- Candidates need a Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR a Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course, selected through a process described in any one of the following:

- Experience/Knowledge in the relevant fields.
Service Conditions
